I'm wondering if it's possible to add php into the header... I'm trying to include some variables from my shopping cart, along with a php template file for my menu navigation that's located in another directory on the same site.
This method seems to work for other CMS systems I'm integrating, but not for mediacore? I've also tried including my code in the master.html and layout.html files, but don't seem to be getting anywhere.
No, that's not possible as MediaCore uses Python/Genshi so PHP won't work. Other CMSs your thinking about probably all use PHP, so that's why PHP snippets work there.
This makes sense, but do you have any ideas how to call a php file from within Python/Genshi?
well, you could try an iframe. Other possibilities:
- port the PHP snippet to Genshi
- write a small MediaCore plugin/extend MediaCore so it calls the PHP on the command line and you include the HTML output in the template.
Basically I don't think there is an easy solution.

Basically try putting the PHP snippet on your server so it will generate HTML as every other PHP program does (in this case just a short snippet/widget). Then include an iframe in MediaCore's header or footer to include that HTML by referencing the URL.
