Felix, we have a database question. We have a fair amount of data (2000+ records) and it is in a spreadsheet. We want to extrapolate the necessary data from this spreadsheet and somehow drop it into the Mediacore database. This could be done manually, but at a cost of time. Much time and much labour.
I have managed to get this spreadsheet into a MySQL database, but I'm not sure if that was an effort of futility or not. The feilds/schema are very different from the Mediacore database.
So, I think my question is in two parts:
1. the database schema for Mediacore - each table - is there a document someplace that explains these fields/tables and tells us exactly what they are?
2. adding data to the Mediacore database - since there is a web UI that allows admins to add data by populating the relevant fields, I going to assume that there may be some sort of command line/API element behind this. I would ask if you could point me in that direction also.
My plan is this - we have our data, which is obviously in a different schema than the Mediacore database. So, I want to match the fields/data with what I have and put those fields into the correct tables/fields in Mediacore. I'm not looking for you to come up with a solution, I am looking for the tools that I would need to do this as painless as possible.
To summarize:
is there an API-type element that I can use to populate the Mediacore database?
if so, is the an explanation of all of the data fields in the Mediacore database?
if so, can you point us in the direction of these?
