If you have SSH access there are several very good tutorials regarding installing python 2.5+ alongside 2.4 so as to not mess up any system level dependencies.
-
yes i do have it however this is getting complicated
wget http://python.org/ftp/python/VERSION/Python-VERSION.tgz
tar -xzvf Python-VERSION.tgz
cd Python-VERSIONit looks like installs after i
./configure --prefix=$HOME
make
make installput when i check the version it is back to 2.4.4
I need serious help from someone to install this please
-
and i got this
[Errno 13] Permission denied: '/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/test-easy-install-5663.write-test'
The installation directory you specified (via --install-dir, --prefix, or
the distutils default setting) was:/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/
Perhaps your account does not have write access to this directory? If the
installation directory is a system-owned directory, you may need to sign in
as the administrator or "root" account. If you do not have administrative
access to this machine, you may wish to choose a different installation
directory, preferably one that is listed in your PYTHONPATH environment
variable. For information on other options, you may wish to consult the
documentation at:http://peak.telecommunity.com/EasyInstall.html
Please make the appropriate changes for your system and try again.

Does Dreamhost give you root access via SSH?
It doesnt seem that the user you're logged in as, has privileges at that directory, which makes me believe you're not logged in as root. In which case, some other steps in the guide might be difficult to complete.
I would see if you could at least install python2.5 in your users home directory for which that user would have access, and make sure that your apache user has access to it.
Googling around it appears as though Dreamhost PS doesnt allow root access, so if you can't sudo install stuff, and they wont install it for you, I'm not sure what you could do.

you were right but i have a full root access just put sudo
now step by step installation brought me to :
serving on http://127.0.0.1:8080
but i dont see the folders or directories on my public library do i have to upload also tar.gz?
-
If it's running properly you should be able to check it out at yourdomain.com:8080 - It doesn't need to run in public_html since you're running it through the default paster server and not Apache.
