   I'm trying my best to get mediacore setup and working, but I'm stuck at the step where I'm supposed to install setuptools.

   I logged into root and downloaded setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg. I can clearly see the file when I execute 'dir' command. I tried the next step which is to :

   # sudo sh setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg

   but I get this error:

   audit_log_user_command(): Connection refused
   setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg: line 3: exec: python2.5: not found

   I'm stuck! Can someone please give me some ideas what I can do? I installed python 2.5. In fact, I have python 2.4, 2.5, and 2.6.

   It looks like the egg needs there to be a "python2.5" executable on your $PATH, but it can't be found.

   If you installed it to a non-standard location, you'll just need to add that directory to your system $PATH. If you're unsure of how, search for a howto for your OS. Usually you just have to edit your ~/.bash_profile or something similar.

   I'm not sure but it may also be possible that you have a "python" executable and you need to create a symlink called "python2.5" that points to it.
   

   python --version
   # if that says 2.5
   ln -s /usr/local/bin/python /usr/local/bin/python2.5

   Another way to find where the "python2.5" executable is: $ which python2.5

   For a non-root install, I set my PYTHONPATH="/home/user/lib/python2.5/site-packages"

   I installed setuptools: $ sh ./setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg --prefix=~
