Hello,
I'm very impressed with the MediaCore project and I'd like to use it for my next website. The only problem I have is that it adds videofiles and audiofiles (podcasts), but I need a Image section as well :(.
Is it perhaps possible to tweak the settings a bit and make a image section as well? I'm not much of a php coder, so I was wondering whether someone could help me out with this?

I did this for a MediaCore website (based on 0.8) but it's bit of a hack. It's definitively not 'easy-doing' but requires quite some work. However I'd be interested in getting my work upstream as this would make maintenance much easier for me.
If you are really interested in this, I guess it's best if you post to mediacore-developers (http://groups.google.com/group/mediacore-developers) and ask for the feature. If the simplestation guys are in favor of it, I would start getting patches ready for review.
But keep in mind: this won't be ready short-term solution, more like in a couple of months.
Felix - would it be possible for us to take a look at your code on this? We have started thinking about doing images - it won't be included in the 0.9 branch, but possibly might be something we could do for 1.0 or 1.1
What's the reason that you would want to include images as well?
Stuart: A client of mine wanted to have a portal where users can upload videos and/or images (http://onegoal.schwarz.eu/) so they show their donators/supporters what happens with the campaign (in addition to their usual PR/campaign work).
Currently the code is really hacky, mostly directly included in the upload functions. Is surprisingly few code (to me at least) but if there's interest in getting it into MediaCore, it'd investigate how I can really integrate that into 0.9 cleanly.

Any updates to the above function, it has been what i have been searching for.
GetMediaCore is very impressive, currently i am using an Open DMS software, but
i don't really like it very much.
If Image can be included in it, it would really be an impressive product.
especially for people whom are looking for online galleries to share their videos and photos.
This won't be included in our next release (0.9) - and isn't on our roadmap for the next couple of releases as there are much bigger pieces that we're currently missing. I do agree that adding images to MediaCore would be really nice, but there are lots of photo gallery scripts out there already so I'm not sure what the platform would stand to benefit by adding the functionality for it. I guess in the case where we wanted MediaCore to become a full DMS that might make sense, but I don't think that was the goal of the project. This would be a really nice community plug-in though.
I'm too interested in adding support for Images/Photo. I already wrote a plugin, so i might be interested to write it.

I propose people interested in such support (willing to contribute code) should send a mail to mediacore-developers where we can flesh out how image support should look like.
